Job summary

London Luton Airport Operations Ltd is seeking a Lead Technologist to own the technical direction of our innovation product portfolio, delivering real-time analytics, operational intelligence systems and customer-facing experiences in a live environment.

You will lead cross-functional teams with data science, operations and commercial stakeholders, shape architecture, drive production ML/AI deployments, and mentor engineers while upholding the LLA Way of safety, quality and continuous

Qualifications

Proven delivery track record shipping production data/AI systems in high-stakes environments.
Systems integration experience with legacy enterprise systems and managing complex data flows.
Active leadership and initiative; shape strategy and drive outcomes, not just coding.
Outstanding communication translating complex technical concepts for operational teams and senior stakeholders.
Experience embedded with non-technical teams (operations, safety, commercial) and bridging gaps.
Coaching mindset; building capability, running technical workshops and mentoring teams.
Commercial and operational awareness balancing speed, risk, and business value.
Proactive problem-solving in ambiguous environments and taking ownership of outcomes.
Ability to operate in a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities while maintaining technical rigour.

Responsibilities

Drive technical architecture across the product pipeline—from real-time data processing to automated operations and intelligent alerting.
Lead delivery of production ML/AI systems with data science and operational teams to deploy models delivering measurable value.
Own integrations with operational and enterprise systems ensuring reliable data flows and interoperability.
Run technical discovery and proof-of-concept validation; scope feasibility and define delivery roadmaps with stakeholders.
Coach and develop internal technical capability; set engineering standards and promote quality.
Balance rapid experimentation with production-grade engineering and maintainable systems.
Create and pitch technical proposals with clear business cases balancing speed, risk and value.
Support recruitment and team growth with technical assessments and onboarding.
Manage vendor relationships and partnerships ensuring security and compliance.
Contribute to guest experience by delivering accurate and efficient technical support; align with LLA Way strategy.
Promote LLA Way initiatives with employees and the wider airport community.
