Job summary

Murphy is recruiting a Senior Technician to support our growing Power team from the Glasgow office. The role sits within our applied engineering group, delivering civil, structural, mechanical, geotechnical and process engineering solutions for diverse projects.

You will prepare drawings and models using Revit, Navisworks, and related tools, coordinate across disciplines, and ensure CAD data is managed per company standards while contributing to efficient project delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in Civil/Structural engineering environments.
• Ability to coordinate multi-discipline details.
• Experience with CAD data management and drawing standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare project design drawings including site prep drawings and structural models.
• Lead technician role and coordinate multiple discipline details.
• Interrogate/prep concept/design pipework or civil 3D models.
• Process site survey data to produce CAD models.
• Coordinate with internal/external teams on drawing requirements.
• Prepare and archive drawings according to CAD standards and procedures.
• Support Project CDE adoption and document control measures.

Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Technician to join our applied engineering team, this role will support our growing Power team based out of our Glasgow office.

Under the banner of Murphy Applied Engineering, our in‑house teams include civil, structural, mechanical, geotechnical and process engineers. They design both permanent and temporary works for projects in all our locations and are a trusted source of expert advice for both Murphy colleagues and external customers.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Technician

• Preparation of project design drawings, including all site prep drawings, structural steelwork models and layouts, point cloud interrogation & data extraction, completion of schedules utilising Revit tools etc.
• Take role of project lead technician and ensure co‑ordination of multiple discipline details.
• Interrogation/preparation of concept/design pipework and/or civil 3D models.
• Process site survey data to produce CAD models.
• Co‑ordinate with internal & external team members/design teams/project teams where required.
• Liaise with colleagues, other departments and project teams with respect to drawing requirements.
• Prepare drawings in accordance with current company CAD Standards.
• Ensure that drawings are prepared, stored, issued and archived in accordance with company procedures via internal CAD Data Management software.
• Ensure that chargeable work can be evaluated by the preparation of adequate timesheet records.
• Support adoption of the Project CDE and ensure document control measures are upheld.
• Take part in roles assigned within a BEP and work to BS EN ISO 19650.
• Creation of project federated models and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Advanced Autodesk Revit Skills.
• Competent with Autodesk Navisworks, ReCap or similar Bentley software packages.
• Previous experience of Civils and Temporary Works.
• Previous experience of working with CDE systems.
• Use of point cloud software.
• Working within a Civil and Structural engineering discipline.
• Working with Revit Families and Data extraction processes.
