Job summary

Murphy Applied Engineering, based out of our Scotland office, is recruiting a Design Engineer to work on temporary works projects across Murphy’s portfolio.

You will design and deliver reliable temporary works solutions, join multidisciplinary teams, and visit sites to ensure constructible outcomes. A Civil/Structural Engineering degree and progress toward chartership are expected, with a proactive, communicative mindset.

Qualifications

  • HND/Bachelor/Masters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Engineer working towards Chartership with ICE or IStructE.
  • Design engineer capable to work autonomously or as part of a team.
  • Good communicator with ability to develop relationships across the company.
  • Open-minded approach to solving civil and structural engineering challenges.
  • Willingness to visit company sites and offices across the country.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking engineering designs on a wide range of temporary works schemes across Murphy projects.
  • Representing the MAE team in collaborative project team meetings.
  • Undertaking site visits when appropriate.
  • Working collaboratively with other engineers within the group to produce the best engineered solution to temporary works problems.

A day in the life of a Murphy Temporary Works Design Engineer
