Job summary

UBT is seeking an experienced Technical Workplace Designer in Reading to turn creative concepts into precise construction information. The role sits at the heart of projects, coordinating between design, pre-construction and site delivery to ensure buildable solutions.

You’ll own technical development of workplace projects, coordinating with the team to deliver compliant, cost-effective drawings ready for pricing and procurement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in workplace or commercial interior design.
• Strong knowledge of workplace construction and technical detailing.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to discuss technical solutions with colleagues, consultants and clients.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed drawing packages (floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, power/data layouts, elevations, joinery details).
• Develop design information from concept to construction ensuring practical, coordinated and buildable solutions.
• Coordinate with pre-construction to refine technical details, respond to tender queries and ensure budgets.
• Coordinate with M&E, HVAC and other specialists to ensure integrated design.
• Liaise with inspectors, fire consultants and others to support Building Control compliance.
• Carry out site surveys and progress meetings to resolve technical challenges.
• Maintain CAD standards, drawing accuracy and document control throughout the project lifecycle.
