Technical Workplace Designer: From Concept to Build

UBT is seeking an experienced Technical Workplace Designer for our Reading team. You will own the technical development of workplace projects, translating design concepts into detailed construction information that can be priced, procured, and built.

You will work closely with the Operations Director, Head of Pre-Construction, and site teams to ensure every element is properly coordinated before reaching site. Strong CAD skills and UK regulations knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in workplace or commercial interior design.
• Expert-level AutoCAD skills.
• Experience with Revit would be highly advantageous.
• Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ability to produce efficient, practical and compliant workplace space plans.
• Strong understanding of partition systems, acoustic solutions, M&E integration and bespoke furniture/joinery construction.
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to discuss technical solutions with colleagues, consultants and clients.

Responsabilités

• Produce detailed drawing packages including floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, power/data layouts, elevations.
• Develop design information from concept through to construction, ensuring solutions are practical, coordinated and buildable.
• Coordinate with pre-construction to refine technical details, respond to tender queries and ensure designs work within project budgets and procurement programmes.
• Coordinate with M&E, HVAC and other specialist requirements to ensure all elements of the workplace work together seamlessly.
• Liaise with Approved Inspectors, fire consultants and other external consultants to support Building Control compliance.
• Carrying out site surveys and attending progress meetings to understand real-world conditions and resolve technical challenges.
• Maintaining excellent CAD standards, drawing accuracy and document control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Taking ownership of technical packages and proactively identifying potential issues before they become problems on site.
