The Big Phone Store is seeking a Senior Technical SEO & AI Search Specialist to own the technical organic search across a large ecommerce site in the UK. You will manage architecture, indexing, structured data, and AI-search considerations to drive qualified traffic and revenue.
We require a proven track record on high-traffic sites, independent problem solving, and the ability to translate SEO improvements into measurable commercial outcomes.
Take ownership of technical SEO for a large ecommerce website with 100,000+ monthly visitors, improving rankings, qualified organic traffic and, ultimately, customers and revenue.
You’ll work across technical SEO, site architecture, internal linking, crawling and indexing, structured data, cannibalisation, search intent and emerging AI search platforms including Google AI search, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity.
This isn't an entry-level SEO role. We want someone who can demonstrate real results on high-traffic websites, diagnose problems independently and turn SEO improvements into measurable commercial outcomes.
£40,000–£55,000+ for exceptional candidates | Full-time | Remote working available
The Big Phone Store is one of the UK's leading refurbished technology retailers and an award‑winning employer recognised for customer service, workplace culture, sustainability, growth and innovation.
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Technical SEO & AI Search Specialist to take ownership of the technical side of our organic search performance across traditional search engines and AI-powered search.
This is a substantial ecommerce website and this is not an entry-level SEO position. We’re looking for someone who has already worked at scale, understands how complex websites behave in search and can demonstrate measurable commercial results.
Your objective is to increase qualified, commercially relevant organic traffic that contributes to enquiries, customers, transactions and revenue. Rankings, impressions and traffic are important indicators, but they are not the end goal.
You must have proven experience working on websites receiving at least 100,000 visits per month. We are looking for evidence of what you have actually achieved, including the scale of sites, problems identified, actions taken and effect on qualified traffic, conversions or revenue.
You’ll be expected to understand and improve site hierarchy, internal link structures, contextual linking, anchor‑text strategy, category and product relationships, navigation and breadcrumbs, orphaned pages, competing pages and how authority should flow towards strategically important pages.
You’ll help us understand and improve visibility across Google AI‑powered search experiences, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and other emerging search and answer platforms.
You’ll be expected to be highly competent with Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, SEMrush or equivalent SEO platforms, and website crawling and auditing tools. Knowledge of Python, SQL, APIs, automation or scripting/data‑analysis tools is advantageous but not essential.
We’re looking for someone who keeps up with changes in search, investigates algorithm developments, tests rather than blindly accepting SEO theories, is curious, enjoys solving technical problems, uses evidence and data, understands search intent, thinks commercially, takes ownership, prioritises by impact, works independently and communicates proactively.
The Big Phone Store has a dedicated internal recruitment team and does not accept unsolicited CVs from recruitment agencies.
