Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Scotland is seeking a Principal Active Travel Engineer to lead delivery of active travel projects across Scotland and the UK. You will provide technical leadership within multidisciplinary teams, mentor engineers, and develop client relationships.

The role emphasizes design guidance, innovation, and research, with involvement in bids, framework opportunities and defining delivery strategies.

Qualifications

Chartered Engineer or equivalent with significant active travel project experience.
Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams and coordinating technical inputs.
Proven ability to manage client relationships and support business development.

Responsibilities

Drive the technical delivery of active travel projects and programmes.
Act as Technical Lead or Technical Reviewer on complex projects.
Provide direction, mentoring and career development support to engineers and early-career professionals.
Build, maintain and develop strategic client relationships.
Lead and support the preparation of bids, tenders and framework opportunities.
Identify and respond to commercial risks and opportunities.
Develop project methodologies, fee proposals, resource plans and delivery strategies.
Promote technical excellence, innovation and best practice across the business.
Support the development of design standards, guidance and research initiatives.
Lead stakeholder engagement and consultation activities where required.
