Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the UK seeks an experienced civil engineer to lead the delivery of active travel projects across Scotland and Northern Ireland. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to design and deliver high-quality schemes, engaging with clients and stakeholders.

The role focuses on promoting integrated solutions, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to business development within a UK-wide framework. Office base in Glasgow or Edinburgh with some travel.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership.
• Demonstrable experience in the design and delivery of active travel infrastructure.
• Experience designing and retrofitting schemes within urban environments.
• Strong understanding of guidance and standards (Cycling by Design, Designing Streets, Inclusive Mobility, National Roads Development Guide).
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
• AutoCAD design experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of active travel projects and technical work packages.
• Produce reports, drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
• Provide technical guidance and support to engineers and technicians.
• Mentor and coach team members and contribute to staff development.
• Review and check technical outputs prepared by others.
• Liaise with clients and stakeholders, explaining technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Support resource planning, programme management and project delivery activities.
• Identify and respond to project risks and opportunities.
• Support business development through networking, bid preparation and client engagement activities.
• Work collaboratively with other disciplines to develop integrated solutions.
