Job summary
Softcat plc in the UK is seeking a seasoned Technical Consultant – Hybrid Platforms focused on Microsoft Azure to lead the technical delivery of Azure projects end-to-end.
You will design robust cloud solutions, translate business requirements into scalable architectures, and work with Project Managers, Architects and other Consultants to ensure successful, secure deployments and effective handover to customers.

Softcat's Professional Services department delivers our customer facing technical solutions. The department consists of a growing team of sixty consultants and engineers specialising in Datacentre, Networking and Security, End User Computing, Unified Communications, Platform and Public Cloud solutions; dotted all over the UK.
As a Technical Consultant – Hybrid Platforms focused primarily on the Microsoft Azure technology stack, you'll be part of our successful Professional Services team, responsible for engaging in scoping of work, creating technical designs based on customer requirements, producing statements of work that align scope and design, and implementing technologies for Softcat's customers.
This role is ideal for a seasoned Microsoft Azure professional seeking to leverage their skills in a challenging and rewarding environment. You'll need to demonstrate an excellent understanding of Azure architecture, core infrastructure services, security, identity, networking and governance, along with the ability to design and deliver robust cloud solutions for enterprise customers. As a Technical Consultant, you'll work closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, secure and cost-effective Azure solutions, providing technical leadership throughout the delivery lifecycle. Strong consulting skills, hands-on implementation experience and the confidence to engage with customers at both technical and strategic levels are essential to succeed in this role.
As Senior Technical Consultant you'll be responsible for:
- Leading the technical delivery of Microsoft Azure projects across the full lifecycle, from initial design through implementation and handover.
- Collaborating with Project Managers, Architects and other Consultants to ensure successful and timely project delivery.
- Working closely with customers to understand their requirements and translate them into well-architected Microsoft Azure solutions.
- Assisting with pre-sales, sales and customer focused conversations where they relate to Microsoft Azure technologies.
- Taking responsibility for designing and delivering secure, scalable and resilient Microsoft Azure solutions aligned to customer and business requirements.
- Implementing Microsoft Azure best practices, including cost management, performance optimisation and operational readiness.
We'd love you to have
- Excellent proven and recent experience working in a technical consulting or professional services role, delivering Microsoft Azure solutions to customers within small, medium and enterprise level organisations.
- Hands-on subject matter expert experience designing, implementing, managing and administering Microsoft Azure technologies, with proven success in creating detailed technical designs and performing successful customer implementations across the Microsoft Azure portfolio.
- Experience gathering, analysing and translating business requirements into clear, actionable technical designs.
- Strong ability to engage with stakeholders at multiple levels, from technical teams to senior business leaders.
- Experience managing technical delivery within defined scope, timelines and quality expectations.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure architecture, including networking, identity, security and governance.
