Job summary

Softcat plc is actively expanding its Internal Technology Team in the UK, seeking an Engineering Technical Lead to raise the squad's capability and mentor junior engineers. You will help the team break down work, remove blockers, and deliver high-quality software in a collaborative, Agile environment.

The role emphasizes architectural direction, production-grade code, and a strong focus on engineering excellence as Softcat continues its technology transformation.

Qualifications

7+ years of hands-on software development experience, operating at Senior Engineer or Technical Lead level.
Strong commercial experience with .NET Core, C#, and SQL.
Proven ability to design and reason about distributed systems and modern application architectures.
Comfortable working in Agile / squad-based environments, influencing delivery without formal authority.
Solid experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS) and version control (Git).

The successful candidate for this role will be responsible for raising the capability of the whole squad, particularly by supporting and developing junior engineers. You will be responsible for ensuring that the team can deliver effectively, by helping the team break down work, remove blockers, and deliver consistently.

We'd love you to have
