Job summary

Softcat plc is seeking a Senior 3rd Line Network and Security Engineer to join the dedicated Network and Security team. You will be responsible for providing 3rd line support to both internal and external customers and drive incidents to resolution.

The role emphasizes knowledge sharing, complex configurations, and end-to-end ownership of escalations, with hybrid working patterns and a strong focus on security technologies.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle high pressure situations.
• CCNP or equivalent.
• Deep knowledge of Networking and Security technologies listed, with hands-on experience in design and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Provide 3rd line technical support for network and security incidents (internal and external).
• Share knowledge through internal training sessions and team mentoring.
• Assist 3rd Line Network & Security Engineers with troubleshooting and case handling guidance.
• Design and implement complex configuration changes for customers.
• Peer review configuration changes before deployment.
• Own customer escalations and drive them to resolution.

As 3rd Line Network and Security Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

• Provide 3rd line technical support for all network and security customers (internal and external), trouble shooting and resolving incidents to their conclusion
• Ensure knowledge share with the wider team via internal training sessions and ad hoc team assistance
• Assist 3rd Line Network & Security Engineers with troubleshooting and case handling guidance
• Design and implement complex configuration changes on behalf of customers
• Peer review configuration changes from the wider team prior to implementation
• Take ownership of customer escalations and drive through to resolution

We'd love you to have

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle high pressure situations
• CCNP or equivalent
• Deep knowledge of at least 3 of the following:
  • Routing & Switching
  • Firewall technologies (especially ASA/Firepower)
  • WiFi (especially Cisco/Meraki)
  • Cisco ISE
  • Cisco ACI
  • SD-WAN (Cisco/Meraki)
  • Palo Alto (NGFW/Panorama/Strata Cloud Manager)
  • F5 Load Balancers
• Skills in DNA / SD-Access / OTV / VXLAN
