Job summary

CBSbutler Ltd. seeks a Senior Technical Architect – Cloud & Microservices to join a major technology programme, combining hands-on coding with strategic architectural leadership across design, integration and governance to ensure scalable, robust solutions.

The role is hybrid in Telford (2 days on site per week), paying £620 per day inside IR35, initially 6 months. BPSS clearance is required; you will influence multi-disciplinary teams and drive architectural standards across the delivery

Qualifications

• Experience in microservices architecture and REST APIs.
• Strong Java development background.
• Experience with AWS and MongoDB.
• Proven ability to design software architecture and communicate with stakeholders.
• Experience in Agile environments and delivery lifecycles.
• Ability to balance technical decisions with business requirements.

I'm looking for a Senior Technical Architect - Cloud & Microservices to join a major technology programme, working at the heart of the architecture and design function.

This is a role for someone who can operate at architectural level but isn't afraid to get hands-on when required.

Responsibilities:

You'll act as the key point of contact for technical and software architecture, making critical design decisions and ensuring solutions are robust, scalable and built for the long term.

• Defining and designing software solutions with a focus on stability, scalability, maintainability and performance
• Developing architectural views and defining how software components interact
• Ensuring solutions align with the longer-term technical strategy and wider architecture
• Supporting solutions throughout construction and working closely with development teams
• Providing technical direction and guidance to architects, developers and managers
• Championing architectural standards and ensuring teams adhere to agreed designs
• Maintaining key architectural documentation and communicating changes effectively
• Helping build and develop an effective software engineering team

Most importantly, you’ll bring curiosity, creativity and a willingness to get into the detail rather than simply producing architecture from a distance.
