Job summary

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA or equivalent.
• Extensive post-qualification experience in banking/financial services or regulated organisations.
• Experience providing independent technical accounting advice to Executives.
• Proven track record in statutory reporting and managing external audit relationships.
• Strong ability to navigate complex accounting judgments and policy decisions.
• Experience implementing new accounting standards and assessing business impact.
• Strong writing skills with experience producing Board-level papers.

Responsibilities

• Own annual statutory financial statements for Julian Hodge Bank and consolidated Group under IFRS/FRS 101.
• Oversee statutory FS for The Carlyle Trust and subsidiaries.
• Ensure accurate accounting/disclosures of lending and investment portfolios.
• Maintain audit trails and manage audit activities, including planning and issue resolution.
• Lead relationship with external auditors and drive successful annual audits.
• Identify and resolve accounting/reporting issues during audits.
• Act as Group authority on technical accounting matters with definitive conclusions.
• Lead interpretation/implementation of new accounting standards.
• Prepare technical accounting papers for senior stakeholders.
• Advise on accounting for lending products and financial instruments.
• Maintain Group Accounting Policy Framework and governance around judgements.
• Lead assessments for significant transactions, products, and strategic projects.
• Provide clear accounting implications to influence decision-making.
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess implications for the Group.
• Represent Finance on strategic change programmes requiring accounting input.
• Prepare Board papers and financial reports with clear articulation of issues.
• Present complex financial information to non-technical audiences.
• Support senior management with insights for strategic decisions.
• Provide information to Tax Advisors for annual corporation tax returns.
• Resolve complex technical accounting matters independently.
• Develop accounting policies and drive process improvements.
