Job summary

Affinia, the UK’s largest purpose-led accountancy firm, is seeking an experienced tax professional to lead the Tax Service Line. The role involves strategic financial management, high-level client relationships, and driving growth for a diverse portfolio of individuals and unincorporated businesses.

You will mentor the tax team, deliver bespoke planning reports, and participate in business development—spotting opportunities in existing clients and pitching for new work.

Qualifications

• CTA qualification preferred.
• Strong tax technical knowledge and advisory experience.
• Ability to spot tax planning opportunities and progress independently with clients.
• Proven track record of managing a varied tax portfolio.
• Autonomous, with ability to lead others.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to review others’ work and mentor junior staff.
• Ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage a large portfolio of individuals and unincorporated businesses.
• Oversee the tax team's compliance cycle and reviews.
• Identify and pursue tax planning opportunities for clients.
• Line-manage and mentor junior tax staff.
• Support leaders with strategic tax services and advisory work.
• Lead client meetings as trusted tax advisor.
• Collaborate with other service lines for joined-up tax delivery.
• Monitor KPI like WIP, billing, and debtors to ensure profitability.
• Drive new business opportunities within the client base.
