Job summary

Gold Group is seeking a Senior Systems Safety Engineer in Bedfordshire to join our defence engineering team. You will drive safety management across projects from concept to certification, ensuring compliance with UK MOD frameworks and regulatory standards.

This on-site role requires SC clearance and a track record in safety within defence or high-hazard sectors, with experience in SIL derivation and IEC 61508. A structured hybrid pattern may be involved.

Qualifications

Familiar with Def Stan 00-056 and ASEMS.
Understanding of Defence Safety Regulations.
Proven track record in safety within defence or high-hazard sector.
Knowledge of Def Stan 23-015 and weapon system integrations (Def Stan 07-085 / Def Stan 59-114).
Experience with IEC 61508 and deriving SILs.
Understanding of UK, US, and EU safety legislation.

Responsibilities

Drive safety management processes across key projects from concept through to certification.
Apply and manage UK MOD safety management frameworks, ensuring compliance with defence standards.
Conduct hazard analysis, risk assessments, and functional safety evaluations.
Determine Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) and demonstrate compliance with international standards.
Ensure all systems meet UK, US, and EU safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
