Job summary

Advanced Resource Managers Ltd is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to join our defence engineering team in Ampthill. You will help deliver complex programmes by ensuring safety requirements are met and by guiding hazard identification and mitigation across the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include reviewing designs, developing safety cases, and applying standards such as Def Stan 00-056 and IEC 61508 while ensuring UK MOD compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a safety engineering role, ideally in defence.
• Good knowledge of UK MOD safety management incl. Def Stan 00-056 and ASEMS.
• Experience with functional safety standards such as IEC 61508.
• Understanding of Safety Integrity Levels (SIL).
• Knowledge of UK/US/EU safety legislation.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction and support to the safety team, ensuring project deadlines are met.
• Review system designs, specifications and operational requirements to ensure safety compliance.
• Identify hazards, assess risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Develop and deliver safety cases, safety documentation and ALARP strategies.
• Support safety management of potentially hazardous trials.
• Ensure compliance with UK MOD safety standards and regulations.
• Support accident investigations and recommend corrective actions.
• Work closely with project teams and customers to deliver effective safety solutions.
