Eaton Wimborne, part of the Mission Systems Division, is a global leader in aerospace fuel and actuation systems. This Senior Project Engineer role focuses on lifecycle engineering across requirements, design, verification and delivery for air-to-air refuelling and related systems.

You will plan tasks, engage with suppliers and customers, manage changes, and drive continuous improvement to meet challenging program milestones and safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • 5+ years experience in engineering roles.
  • Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS/CRADLE) is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Apply mechanical and systems engineering knowledge across the product lifecycle.
  • Lead requirements management, validation, design, development, integration and verification.
  • Plan engineering tasks and prepare management plans.
  • Translate customer requirements into the total project solution.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and customers to ensure delivery.
  • Manage engineering change and maintain traceability.
  • Support lifecycle activities to deliver an integrated solution.
  • Schedule design gate reviews with airworthiness and safety teams.
  • Identify risks and opportunities affecting delivery.
  • Collaborate with leadership to resource projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement in systems engineering practices.

What you'll do:

Eaton - Mission Systems Division (MSD) is the world's leading provider of hose and drogue Air-to-Air Refuelling (AAR) and Actuation systems. Eaton work directly with the aircraft manufacturers and end-users to develop systems that achieve their operations in challenging environments, safely and successfully

  • As a Senior Project Engineer, your main responsibilities will involve:
  • The use of mechanical and/or systems engineering knowledge and processes within a product lifecycle.
  • Executing all stages of system lifecycle like, requirements management, validation, systems design, development, integration, verification and qualification as per the company standard
  • processes and customer requirements
  • Being responsible for planning the engineering tasks and generation of engineering management plans
  • Converting customer and other stakeholder requirements to define, analyse and inform the total project solution.
  • To engage with suppliers and customers to ensure the solution meets their expectations.
  • Managing engineering change to ensure system integrity all through the life-cycle, and ensuring traceability of all key design decisions.
  • Providing support in all areas of the product lifecycle and deliver a totally integrated solution.
  • Planning and scheduling engineering design gate reviews, engage with other functions e.g. airworthiness, safety to ensure the project delivery milestones are fully met.
  • Managing technical risks and opportunities that may have a direct / indirect effect on the delivery of the project and system.
  • Liaising with the engineering leadership and programme management teams to ensure the project is adequately resourced and support to identify any potential capability shortfalls
  • Driving continuous improvement and incorporate effective systems engineering management practices
Qualifications:
  • Engineering degree or equivalent with at least 5 years experience
  • Experience in a requirements management tool like DOORS / CRADLE would be beneficial
Skills:
  • You will have experience in one or more of the following - mechanical, electro mechanical, fluid, mechanisms, structures or systems product development.
  • You are motived and proactive, driving solutions to completion.
  • You will have comprehensive appreciation and understanding of the engineering product life cycle.
  • You have an appreciation for Systems Engineering Management.
  • Have held engineering sign off for documents.
  • You are a natural problem solver, with a solutions focussed mindset
