Job summary

Ultra Intelligence & Communications seeks a Principal Systems Lead to supervise the Systems Engineering lifecycle across a major project, overseeing requirements, design, and integration in complex defense environments.

This senior role requires independent judgement, leadership, and mentoring of project managers and engineers, ensuring compliance with government regulations and security standards.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or Defence/Aerospace experience.
• Significant experience and a full understanding of Systems Engineering lifecycle and processes.
• Experience in developing high quality requirements and compliant system design.
• Experience implementing the full Systems Engineering lifecycle per ISO/IEEE/IEC standards.
• Technical and line management experience of a team of systems engineers.
• Experience writing high quality technical documentation and formal reviews.
• Knowledge of System Engineering practices, methodologies and trends.
• Experience of requirement management and modelling tools.
• Hands-on development experience in hardware/firmware/software, embedded.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Systems discipline as lead Systems Engineer on a project, delivering system work packages within scope, plans, quality, schedule and budget.
• Support EPL in engineering management obligations and define resources for Systems work packages.
• Lead design reviews and communicate with senior management and customers.
• Provide technical direction across project work packages to ensure optimal approach and risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with system, hardware, firmware and software architects to ensure modular, reusable designs.
