Job summary

Amwins Global Risks is seeking a Systems Engineer to join its IT team in the United Kingdom. You will maintain Windows servers and IIS, deploy websites and APIs, and help secure and optimize our infrastructure.

The role requires strong experience with Azure DevOps, Git, YAML, PowerShell, and SQL Server, plus the ability to troubleshoot and automate with modern tooling. You will collaborate across IT and QA teams and continually learn new technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in systems engineering, administration, or similar role.
• Strong Windows OS and IIS knowledge.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, YAML, PowerShell and Azure CLI.
• Experience with SQL Server and other databases.
• Experience with troubleshooting tools like Seq and Dynatrace.
• Basic knowledge of C# and programming languages.
• Basic networking knowledge and troubleshooting.
• Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor Windows servers and IIS web servers.
• Deploy websites and APIs to IIS using Azure DevOps pipelines.
• Be familiar with IIS logging and Windows event logs.
• Work with SQL Server and Mongo/Cosmos databases and have basic SQL experience.
• Manage work and provide status updates using Azure DevOps Boards.
• Transition pipelines from classic to YAML and GitHub for deployment.
• Use Git to navigate and understand the application code (C#).
• Automate tasks with PowerShell and Azure CLI scripting.
• Investigate root causes with Seq and Dynatrace tools.
• Collaborate with IT, QA, and development teams.
• Learn and adapt to containerization and Linux-based systems.
