Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for the Cloudflare One Appliance team. You will shape and build the Linux-based edge appliance runtime and distributed control plane that connect customer sites to Cloudflare, spanning physical hardware, virtual appliances, and cloud environments.

This hands-on, product-minded role requires leadership in low-level systems, distributed services, and API design, while ensuring security, observability, and safe operation across thousands of devices.

Qualifications

Strong Linux and networking knowledge with experience in routing, namespaces, and security.
8+ years of professional software engineering building complex production systems.
Experience designing distributed control planes and remote configuration for large fleets.

Responsibilities

Shape and build the Linux-based edge appliance runtime and distributed control plane.
Develop capabilities spanning cloud control plane, telemetry pipeline, and deployment environments.
Lead architectural direction and mentor engineers across multiple teams.
