Job summary

Orion Electrotech is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead hydraulic test rig projects from concept through commissioning in a multi-disciplinary environment in the UK.

You will define system requirements, architect hydraulic, electrical and control interfaces, and produce documentation. Hybrid working and a strong focus on safety standards are offered, with a competitive salary based on experience.

Senior Systems Engineer

Orion is partnered with one of the UK’s leading specialists in the design and manufacture of bespoke Test & Assembly systems in various industries, with expertise in Aerospace.

They are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer with strong expertise in hydraulic test rigs and integration to join their dynamic engineering team. Responsibilities of the Senior Systems Engineer:

• Develop system architectures for hydraulic test rigs and automation systems.


• Define system requirements, specifications, and acceptance criteria.


• Integrate hydraulic, electrical, and control systems into cohesive solutions.


• Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers.


• Support the design of hydraulic circuits, instrumentation, and control strategies.


• Produce system documentation, including functional specifications and test procedures.


• Support build, test, and commissioning activities, both in the factory and on-site.

Requirements of the Senior Systems Engineer:

• Extensive experience in systems engineering or a similar role.


• Strong experience with hydraulic systems and test rigs.


• Proven ability to integrate multi-disciplinary systems.


• Skilled in producing system-level documentation and specifications.


• Knowledge of instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems.


• Familiarity with relevant engineering and safety standards.


• Experience with high-pressure or safety-critical hydraulic systems.
