Job summary

Almac Group is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to manage Linux-based server platforms and enterprise storage, supporting mission-critical 24x7 IS services across Almac sites. The role encompasses design, installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of server and storage infra and applications, on premise and in the Cloud.

Experience with OpenText Content Suite (Livelink) is advantageous, and a strong background in virtualisation and complex infrastructure is expected; the candidate should

Qualifications

• BSc hons degree (or equivalent) with a strong computer element OR proven practical infrastructure experience.
• Experience implementing, administering and supporting server operating systems in complex environments.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, OpenShift or VDI.

The Opportunity

As part of the UK infrastructure team, the Senior Systems Engineer has responsibility for the servers and storage equipment supporting mission critical 24x7 IS services for all Almac sites. They are responsible for the design, installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of server and storage infrastructure and applications both on site and in the Cloud. The primary focus of the role is Linux-based server platforms and enterprise storage technologies; however, experience supporting a range of operating systems and infrastructure technologies is highly desirable. Given Almac's extensive use of OpenText Content Suite (Livelink), experience in the administration, support, or integration of this platform would be advantageous.

What you need to be successful

• BSc hons degree (or equivalent) with a strong computer element OR Proven practical experience in Infrastructure support in a large IS or manufacturing environment
• Competence in implementing, administrating and supporting Server Operating Systems supporting complex interwoven infrastructure environments
• Experience in the installation and administration of Virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V, KVM, OpenShift or VDI
• Experience supporting the delivering complex IS infrastructure projects to agreed time, cost and quality
