Job summary

Allen & York is seeking a Senior Sustainability Manager to own the organisation's sustainability strategy and embed sustainability across the business. The role offers high impact, shaping strategy, driving measurable outcomes and influencing commercial decisions.

With growth in the sustainability function, there is strong potential for progression into Head of Sustainability within 1–2 years. The position supports flexible hybrid working with a minimum in-office presence.

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing and implementing sustainability strategies.
• Knowledge of carbon accounting, emissions reduction, environmental reporting and frameworks.
• Excellent analytical and Excel skills.
• Experience with sustainability measurement platforms.
• Ability to translate complex data into business recommendations.
• Strong stakeholder management; experience influencing senior leaders and managing external consultants.

Responsibilities

• Own and develop the organisation's sustainability strategy, targets and decarbonisation pathway.
• Lead strategic priorities including carbon reduction, circularity and sustainability leadership.
• Translate sustainability strategy into measurable, commercially focused outcomes, delivered to time and budget.
• Oversee sustainability resources, consultants, suppliers and strategic partnerships.
• Measure, analyse and report environmental performance, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
• Lead the annual sustainability reporting process and key sustainability communications.
• Ensure sustainability activities align with relevant legislation, standards, frameworks and industry best practice.
• Provide expert guidance, coaching and constructive challenge to colleagues across the organisation.
• Work closely with Finance, Marketing, Communications and other teams to embed sustainability into business decisions.
• Identify opportunities to connect sustainability initiatives with commercial performance and revenue generation.
• Represent the organisation externally through industry groups, partnerships and professional networks.
• Support sustainability awareness, learning and capability-building across the business.
