Job summary

Allen & York Ltd. is seeking a Senior Sustainability Manager to own the sustainability strategy and embed it across the business.

You will drive decarbonisation, lead cross‑functional teams and translate strategy into measurable outcomes that influence commercial decisions. The role offers hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days in the office, and potential progression into senior leadership as the function grows.

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing and implementing sustainability strategies.
• Strong knowledge of carbon accounting, emissions reduction, environmental reporting and sustainability frameworks.
• Excellent analytical and Excel skills; able to translate data into business recommendations.
• Experience influencing senior leaders and managing external consultants and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Own and develop the organisation's sustainability strategy, targets and decarbonisation pathway.
• Lead strategic priorities including carbon reduction, circularity and sustainability leadership.
• Translate strategy into measurable, commercially focused outcomes delivered on time and budget.
• Oversee sustainability resources, consultants, suppliers and partnerships.
• Measure, analyse and report environmental performance, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
• Lead annual sustainability reporting and key communications.
• Ensure activities align with legislation, standards, frameworks and best practice.
• Provide guidance, coaching and challenge to colleagues across the organisation.
• Work with Finance, Marketing and other teams to embed sustainability in decisions.
• Identify opportunities to connect sustainability with commercial performance.
• Represent the organisation externally via industry groups and networks.
• Support sustainability awareness, learning and capability-building.

Senior Sustainability Manager

Location: Brighton & Hove

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Sustainability Manager to take ownership of an organisation's sustainability strategy and play a key role in embedding sustainability across the wider business. This is a high-impact position offering the opportunity to shape strategy, drive measurable outcomes and influence commercial decision-making.

With continued growth expected across the sustainability function, there is strong potential for progression into a Head of Sustainability position within 1-2 years.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and develop the organisation's sustainability strategy, targets and decarbonisation pathway.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have proven experience developing and implementing sustainability strategies, alongside strong knowledge of carbon accounting, emissions reduction, environmental reporting and sustainability frameworks.

You will have excellent analytical and Excel skills, experience working with sustainability measurement platforms, and the ability to translate complex data into clear business recommendations. Strong stakeholder management skills are essential, including experience influencing senior leaders and managing external consultants and suppliers.

A relevant sustainability or ESG qualification is desirable, as is experience within events, hospitality, travel or related sectors.
