Job summary

Plowman Craven is seeking a Senior Utilities Surveyor to join our Digital Construction team in London, leading utility and topographical surveys from field data collection to delivered products. You’ll work with GPR and EML techniques, manage data quality, and liaise with clients and site teams to ensure safe, on-time project completion.

You will mentor junior surveyors, coordinate with the Survey Lead and Client Delivery Manager, and be prepared for occasional nights away.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of surveying experience, including utility surveys.
• Hands-on experience with GPR and electromagnetic locating techniques.
• Proficient with TPS/GNSS equipment and AutoCAD.
• Experience post-processing GPR data in IQMaps and Geolitix.
• Good understanding of PAS 128.
• Self-motivated, organized and able to solve problems on site under pressure.
• Effective communicator with strong IT skills.
• CSCS card and a full, clean UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Leading utility and topographical surveys, including manhole inspections, total station and GNSS observations.
• Locating buried services using electromagnetic locators (EML) and ground penetrating radar (GPR).
• Post-processing EML data in AutoCAD (2D/3D) and GPR data in IQMaps and Geolitix.
• Proposing the most suitable technology and efficient methods to deliver projects to specification and programme.
• Taking ownership of project logistics, data management and quality so the delivery team can progress with production.
• Reporting progress so deadlines are met and costs stay within budget.
• Liaising with clients, site teams and subcontractors on specifications and deliverables.
• Supporting and developing junior surveyors, and working flexibly, including occasional nights and working away.

Role Overview

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Utilities Surveyor to join our Digital Construction team, supporting utility survey projects across a wide variety of projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced utility surveyor with strong GPR and EML skills who is ready to lead projects and develop others.

You will be responsible for leading utility and topographical surveys from data collection through to processed deliverables, helping clients understand the location and condition of underground services. Working closely with the Survey Lead, Client Delivery Manager and delivery team, playing a key role in delivering projects safely, accurately and on schedule.
