Job summary

Plowman Craven Limited is seeking a Senior Utilities Surveyor to lead PAS128-compliant utility surveys from mobilisation to handover. You will balance hands-on surveying with data quality oversight, on-site safety and coordinating with delivery teams and clients.

The role requires confidence with GPR, electromagnetic locating and GNSS/TPS equipment, plus strong AutoCAD data processing skills. UK driving licence and flexible location expected.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering PAS128 utilities surveys.
• Confidence using GPR, electromagnetic locating and TPS or GNSS equipment.
• Strong AutoCAD skills and experience processing survey data.
• Experience with confined spaces, sewer surveys, laser scanning or rail environments is useful, but not essential.
• Experience supporting or supervising junior surveyors.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks across live projects.
• Flexibility around working hours and location.
• A full, clean UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.

• Working flexibly, including occasional night work or work away from home when required.

Senior Utilities Surveyor

Role Overview

As a Senior Utilities Surveyor, you will lead the delivery of PAS128-compliant utilities surveys, working closely with Survey Leads, delivery teams and clients. You will balance hands on surveying with oversight of data quality, programme and on site coordination, while supporting the development of less experienced colleagues. This is a practical, delivery focused role with responsibility, autonomy and variety.

You’ll be an experienced surveyor who is comfortable being the most knowledgeable person on site, making decisions on approach, safety and quality, and seeing work through from mobilisation to handover. You will work across a wide range of environments, including infrastructure, rail and complex underground settings, using modern survey technology as part of an established national team.
