Job summary

Survey Solutions in Glasgow is seeking a Senior Surveyor to lead and develop a team of surveyors and Trainee staff in a busy engineering surveying practice.

You will supervise, train and mentor the surveying team while delivering large-scale land and measured building surveys to the highest technical standards. A hands-on leader, you will balance fieldwork with project coordination and CAD support.

Qualifications

Job description

Do you have previous extensive experience working as Land and Measured Building Surveyor? Are you looking for a role where you can supervise, train and develop and team of surveyors?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

We are the UK's largest engineering surveyors, looking to appoint a Senior Surveyor to join Survey Solutions' experienced surveying team in our Glasgow office.

As a Senior Surveyor you will play an important role supervising a team of surveyors and Trainee staff. You will work closely to support the office Survey Manager, ensuring that projects are completed on time and to the company's high technical standards. You will be responsible for leading a variety of large-scale, complex land and measured building survey projects. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to complete training days with field-based staff.

This is a full-time role with office hours of Monday to Friday from 9.00 - 5.30, however site hours will vary so overtime and occasional weekend working will be required

We particularly welcome applications from candidates hoping to progress into management positions further down the line.

Requirements

As a Senior Surveyor, you will:

• Supervise and mentor a dedicated surveying team
• Prepare and run development days for Surveyors and Trainee/Juniors
• Support and deputize for the Survey Manager when required, including; holiday cover for client quotations, leading team briefings and individual job briefings
• Complete complex and large-scale topographical surveys to a high standard
• Complete a full measured building surveys with floor plans, elevations and sections; using a combination of traditional methods and 3D scanners to a high standard
• Take the lead on large complex projects topographical and measured building surveying projects
• Provide technical support to the surveying team
• Approving jobs from the surveying team before they are sent to clients
• Full UK driving licence

The Person:

• Previous experience working as a Land & Measured Building Surveyor, in a Senior Surveyor or Experienced Surveyor role
• Previous experience completing training days with surveyors of various levels
• Proficient using total stations, laser scanners, GPS, LisCAD, N4CE, AutoCAD equipment and software
• Able to lead large complex topographical and measured building survey projects
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and meet key deadlines
• Professional and approachable manner with excellent communication skills
• Able to confidently provide expert advice, feedback and technical support to surveyors and CAD operators on office and site activities
