Job summary

BAM Nuttall Ltd is seeking a highly experienced Survey Manager to lead surveying strategy and delivery for Lot 1 of the HS2 Track Systems contract. The role requires strategic leadership, technical oversight and collaboration with HS2 Ltd, design teams and JV partners from the London project office.

You will drive digital surveying innovations, mentor teams, and ensure quality and compliance across all survey activities, contributing to a landmark national infrastructure programme in the UK.

Qualifications

• Extensive senior-level experience in engineering surveying on major civil infrastructure programmes.
• Proven ability to lead survey strategy, design and delivery for complex track schemes.
• Strong leadership with demonstrable mentoring and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement the Survey Management Plan for the HS2 Track Systems contract.
• Lead all survey-related design, planning and operational activities including control networks and as‑built verification.
• Oversee setting out for civils and permanent way; manage reality capture, monitoring, GIS integration and final handover.
• Act as primary technical interface with HS2 Ltd, design teams, JV partners and local authorities.
• Drive innovation in digital construction methods and integrated data workflows across the lifecycle.
• Mentor surveying teams and promote professional accreditation (e.g. CICES, RICS).
