Descripción del empleo

We are seeking a caring and dedicated full-time Senior Support Worker in the Almondsbury area with a pay rate of £14 per hour to work on a 2:1 basis with a non-verbal autistic service user who has just transitioned out of young people's services.

Previous experience in a supported living setting is essential, as is a history of managing or mentoring team members. In return, we offer you the opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of others while working within a caring, close-knit team and benefiting from competitive pay and employee benefits.

About the senior support worker role

As a Senior Support Worker, you will take a leading role within the service while providing support to the Area Manager and Deputy Area Manager. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising the effective running of the service when the management team are off-site.
  • Educating, informing, training and mentoring new and existing team members as requested by the management team.
  • Supporting auditing and quality assurance processes.
  • Encouraging the people we support to participate in activities and pursue their interests.
  • Co-ordinating planned activities and appointments using personalised rotas and liaising with relevant individuals and organisations.
  • Assisting with personal care, including bathing, dressing, toileting and grooming, while maintaining dignity and privacy, or supporting and prompting individuals to undertake these tasks independently where appropriate.
  • Implementing behaviour management strategies when required.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
  • Updating and maintaining accurate records and taking the lead in developing care plans.

This role is offered on a 40-hour-per-week contract, with opportunities for overtime. Shifts are typically 12 or 14 hours long, with the option to undertake regular sleep-ins.

Role requirements

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience as a Senior Support Worker, or in a similar role, within a supported living setting.
  • Experience managing, supervising or mentoring team members.
  • The ability to remain calm, empathetic and professional in all situations, particularly when responding to challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, including the ability to support people who use different methods of communication.
  • Good standards of English, literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • A commitment to ongoing personal development and training.

Unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor visas for this role. We can only progress applications from candidates who already have the right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.

Benefits

There are many great reasons to join our team, including:

  • Competitive pay of £14 per hour, with opportunities to increase earnings through sleep-ins.
  • Free and confidential wellbeing services
  • Access to a wellbeing hub, employee discounts and online training through our learning platform.
