Job Description
We are recruiting for Senior Support Workers.

Purpose of the role

To work with Tutors, Work Area Leaders, and House Managers to support person-centred planning and progression through a 24-hour learning and total communication environment, ensuring individuals’ well-being and education and training needs are met and life chances are enhanced.

Main responsibilities
  • Attend team meetings within designated house(s) and service user meetings, and take action on any outcomes in the absence of the House Manager / Assistant House Manager.
  • Ensure familiarity with the inspectoral frameworks of Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), Estyn, and the National Autistic Society (NAS), and represent the organization at inspections.
  • Promote Equality and Diversity across the Organization.
  • Ensure service user care and welfare needs are assessed and met through care planning processes.
  • Undertake a key working role as laid out by the Organization's / CIW policies and procedures.
  • Support new staff through coaching and mentoring roles within the home.
  • With House / Assistant House Manager, review and update Care Plans, Risk Assessments, Behavior Support Plans, and other relevant documentation.
  • Ensure all documentation regarding day-to-day management of the care home is updated and compliant with CIW and National Minimum Standards.
  • Administer medication in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Supervise volunteers and new staff during probation, highlighting any working practice concerns to the House Manager & Assistant House Manager.
  • Liaise with agencies and stakeholders involved with service users to ensure the provision of integrated services.
  • Ensure all safeguarding/protection requirements are met, and report any suspected issues.
  • Carry out personal care tasks respecting privacy, dignity, and value of all service users.
  • Support young adults in overcoming challenges related to their learning difficulties, disabilities, and autism.
  • Perform domestic tasks around the residential houses.
  • Record financial expenditure of service users following policies and procedures.
  • Undertake sleep-ins as required, typically once per week.
  • Work with individuals displaying challenging behavior, ensuring safety for all.
  • Familiarize with all relevant documentation, including Care Plans, Risk Assessments, and Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Participate in session planning, evaluation, and progress recording based on individual education and training targets.
  • Engage in training and professional development, including Safeguarding and Total Communication.
  • Assist with rota cover and undertake monthly medication audits.
  • Ensure regular house checks are completed and accurate.
  • Take responsibility for shifts and service operation during absences of senior staff.
