Job summary

Jupiter Recruitment in Southampton is seeking a Senior Support Worker for a residential children’s care home in Hampshire. You will lead a small team, ensure daily routines run smoothly, and provide positive, patient support to young people with complex needs.

You will write daily logs, liaise with social workers and families, implement care plans, and participate in activities that help young people learn new skills and gain independence. NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care is required.

Qualifications

• NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent is required.
• Experience with young people with complex needs is preferred.
• Candidates should be patient, compassionate and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the small team on duty and manage the daily routine to keep the home safe and running smoothly.
• Use positive support and de-escalation techniques to handle challenging situations.
• Implement and monitor each young person’s care and support plans.
• Accurately write daily logs and incident reports; administer medication as required.
• Coordinate with social workers, therapists and families regularly.
• Plan engaging activities to help the young person gain skills and independence.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed Senior Support Worker to a residential children's care home in the Southampton, Hampshire area. You will be working for one of UK's leading children's healthcare providers

We are looking for people who genuinely want to make a positive difference to the life of the individual they support. The right person will be patient, understanding and willing to build a trusting relationship, while being there for the individual through both their good and more challenging days

As a Senior Support Worker your key duties include:

• Lead the small team on duty, organize the daily routine, and make sure the home runs smoothly and safely


• Use positive support and calm de-escalation techniques to safely handle difficult situations and intense behaviours


• Put the young person's daily care and support plans into action, focusing on their specific complex needs


• Write accurate daily logs, fill out incident reports, and safely manage and administer medication


• Speak and coordinate regularly with social workers, therapists, and the young person's family


• Plan fun, everyday activities that help the young person learn new skills, gain independence, and thrive

The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role:

• Previous experience in complex care, homecare, supported living, residential care, nursing care or a similar environment is desirable


• Experience supporting individuals with complex care or support needs


• A caring, compassionate and patient approach


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Ability to build professional and trusting relationships with individuals and their families

To be considered for this position you must hold an NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care + experience working in a similar role and setting

The successful Senior Support Worker will receive an excellent salary of £28,080 - £37,440 per annum. This exciting position is a permanent full time role working 36-48 hours a week on days & nights. In return for your hard work and commitment you will receive the following generous benefits:
