Job summary

Vetro Recruitment in Northampton is seeking a Senior Support Worker/Deputy Manager for a children's residential home. You will lead a small team, build trusted relationships with young people, and support daily routines, care plans, and appointments to promote welfare and independence.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, therapeutic approaches to behaviour, and contributing to risk assessments and multi-agency meetings.

Qualifications

• NVQ/QCF Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare, or working towards this qualification.
• At least 2 years' experience in a childrens' residential care setting.
• Experience supporting young people with ASC, mental health, emotional, or behavioural needs.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and childcare legislation understanding.
• Proven leadership and mentoring skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Clean enhanced DBS check or willingness to complete checks.

Responsibilities

• Leading and supporting a small team of Residential Support Workers to deliver high-quality care.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with young people to promote welfare and independence.
• Overseeing daily routines, activities, appointments, and individualised support plans.
• Promoting safeguarding, dignity, and emotional wellbeing, with therapeutic behaviour approaches.
• Contributing to care planning, risk assessments, and multi-agency meetings for best outcomes.
• Maintaining accurate records, reports, and documentation to support care and compliance.
• Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the home, including household tasks and a safe environment.
