Job summary

Fortress Safety, part of Halma plc, is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to lead the development and performance of our global supplier base from our Wolverhampton base. You will own supplier quality and compliance end-to-end, including selection, development, risk management and continuous improvement, reporting to the Head of Supply Chain.

Qualifications

• Must have led supplier quality teams in a high-growth environment.
• Broad supplier and manufacturing quality expertise, including component engineering.
• Experience supporting customer and third-party audits (compliance, certification, management systems).
• Proven supplier risk assessment across business, design, quality, manufacturing, testing and sustainability.
• Strong understanding of QMS/EMS and core tools: APQP, PPAP, MSA and control plans.
• Hands-on experience in electronics and mechanical manufacturing with strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead supplier quality for Fortress Safety, coordinating with global teams in China and the internal quality team.
• Define and improve global supplier quality processes, including supplier evaluation, approval, NPI and change activities.
• Lead supplier issue resolution from containment to corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Procurement on strategy, category management and supplier relationships.
• Contribute to supplier risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
• Support responsible sourcing and manage supply shortages and disruptions.
• Assist new product introduction with supplier readiness and capability.
• Travel within the UK and internationally as needed.

What you'll be doing

• Acting as the lead point of contact for supplier quality, working with our supplier quality team in China and our global internal quality team
• Defining, putting in place and improving global supplier quality processes, including supplier evaluation, approval, NPI and change activities
• Leading supplier issue resolution, from problem definition and containment through root cause analysis to corrective and preventive actions
• Working closely with Procurement on strategy, category management and supplier relationships
• Bringing new ideas to supplier risk assessment and mitigation
• Supporting responsible sourcing and compliance, and helping manage supply shortages and disruption
• Supporting new product introduction with supplier readiness and capability
• Travelling in the UK and abroad as needed

What you'll bring

Must-have

• Experience in a leading role developing supplier quality teams, ideally in a progressive or high-growth environment
• Broad supplier and manufacturing quality expertise, including component engineering
• Experience supporting customer and third-party audits (compliance, certification, management systems)
• Proven supplier risk assessment across business, design, quality, manufacturing, testing and sustainability
• A strong understanding of quality management systems (QMS/EMS) and core quality tools: APQP, PPAP, MSA and control plans
• Hands-on experience in electronics and mechanical manufacturing, with strong problem-solving and failure analysis skills

Nice-to-have

• Knowledge of mechanical commodities: castings, machining and plastics
• Knowledge of electronics: PCBs, semiconductors and assemblies
• Familiarity with assembly and test processes such as SMT and box build, plus traceability and ESD/IPC standards
