Job summary

Egis, via Omnia Projects, seeks a Commissioning Engineer to support protection, control and SCADA commissioning across distribution asset classes up to 132kV. You will work with the in-house delivery team on substations, cables, and civils, ensuring regulatory and customer obligations are met.

Role requires a proven track record in protection commissioning within the electricity distribution/transmission sector, plus willingness to travel between sites across the UK.

Qualifications

• HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• TP141/SR141/CE141 certification.
• 10+ years’ experience in electricity distribution/transmission commissioning.
• Knowledge of protection across switchgear, transformers and feeders up to 400 kV.
• Willingness to obtain/maintain company authorisations (A1, A2.x, O11.x, etc.).
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Pre-commissioning inspection and off-load commissioning tests.
• Check protection/scada diagrams and perform relays checks.
• Attend Factory Acceptance Testing and project meetings.
• Conduct primary substation testing and insulation/diagnostic tests.
• Test protection schemes and integration with control/SCADA (DNP3/IEC61850).
• Record time spent and report progress; support team members.
• Interface with customers, resources, and suppliers; adhere to CDM regs.
