Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking a Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer to lead the design of subsea instrumentation, including optical modem tech and seismic recorder electronics. You will own externally developed designs and source code, ensuring they are production-ready with proper documentation.

Qualifications

• Essential: 2:1 or above in a relevant engineering degree.
• Desirable: Master’s or PhD in a relevant area (electronics, embedded systems, FPGA, photonics, instrumentation)
• Proven expertise in electronics hardware design and low-power embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review and modify electronics hardware, embedded firmware and FPGA designs.
• Take ownership of inherited designs, source code, interfaces and test methods.
• Work on low-power, low-noise subsea electronics and electro-optical interfaces.
• Support optical link performance testing and optimisation.
• Use embedded C, FPGA and Python for development, diagnosis and test automation.
• Help bring products to production readiness, including test fixtures and automated test.
• Provide senior input on design reviews, integration, verification and fault finding.
• Produce clear documentation and coordinate knowledge transfer with internal and external partners.
