Job summary

Essential Employment is seeking a Senior Structural Technician in Northallerton. The role is a full-time position on a temporary contract with PAYE.

You will develop structural designs for sub- and super-structures, produce BIM models and drawings, and support the construction stage with RFIs and site visits. Ideal candidates hold an HND/HNC in Civil Engineering with 5+ years of detailing experience, are proficient in Revit and AutoCAD, and possess a UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• HND / HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with at least 5 years’ structural detailing experience in an engineering design consultancy.
• Experience on new building designs and refurbishment projects, especially structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
• Proficient with drawing packages (Revit, AutoCAD) to produce detailed models and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to develop structural designs for sub- and super-structure meeting client requirements.
• Produce 3D BIM models and 2D drawings with Revit and AutoCAD.
• Create sketches and detailed drawings for RIBA stages from briefing to technical design, including cost estimates.
• Provide construction stage support including RFIs, TQs, review RC details & schedules, and site visits.

Senior Structural Technician needed in Northallerton, £35ph PAYE - Reference: RQ1776086

You will ideally have:

• HND / HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with at least 5 years’ structural detailing experience working within an engineering design consultancy.
• Experience working on new building designs and refurbishment projects, especially in structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
• Proficient in the use of drawing packages, e.g., Revit and AutoCAD, to produce detailed technical models and drawings from structural engineers marked sketches.
• Computer literate, with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Full UK driving license.
• Experienced in RIBA staged project delivery and maintaining budget.

Tasks that will be required of you:

• Communicate and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team (comprising internal and external parties) to develop a structural designs for sub structure and super structure that meets client and key stakeholder requirements.
• Responsible for the production, supervision and coordination of 3D BIM models and 2D drawings using Revit and AutoCAD, respectively.
• Produce sketches and detailed drawings appropriate to RIBA staged delivery, i.e., from briefing and concept stages through to a technical detailed design, including preliminary drawings sufficient for outline cost estimates.
• Construction stage support, i.e., responding to RFI’s and TQ’s, review of R.C. details & schedules and steel fabricator’s drawings and undertaking site visits to resolve any emerging structural issues

This is a Full time role on a temporary contract basis.
