Job summary
Alexander Associates is seeking a Structural Technical Director to provide high‑impact technical leadership across complex structural projects. You’ll act as the go‑to expert for advanced design, offering direction, reviews and buildability assessments to multiple project teams.
The role focuses on shaping standards, mentoring engineers, and driving excellence within a Centre of Excellence for quality, innovation and continuous improvement across data centres, logistics, energy and large‑scale
Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status required (CEng MIStructE or CEng MICE).
- Significant consultancy experience in structural design.
- Proven ability to solve complex, non-standard engineering challenges.
- Strong leadership and mentoring of engineers.
- Excellent communication and commercial awareness.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design of complex structural projects.
- Develop efficient, elegant and buildable structural solutions.
- Advanced analysis across steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
- Review high‑risk or complex designs and provide specialist guidance.
- Support project teams with alternative approaches and engineering judgement.
- Drive design excellence, digital innovation and sustainability.
- Capture lessons learned and improve technical processes.
