Job summary

Bennett & Game Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join their team in Wombwell, Barnsley. The role focuses on designing, analysing and delivering safe, compliant structural engineering solutions for projects across the UK and Europe.

You will develop structural designs, perform calculations, liaise with clients and colleagues, and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations. The position is permanent and office-based, with a competitive pension and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in a structural design engineering role.
• Robust knowledge of structural mechanics.
• Strong design calculation skills using structural engineering software.
• Experience with Tekla Structural Designer, Fastrak Building Designer, Masterframe, STAAD.Pro or MasterSeries.
• Experience in structural steelwork design is highly relevant.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications and project requirements.
• Understanding of relevant engineering standards, regulations and health and safety requirements.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues and other professionals.

Responsibilities

• Developing structural design solutions using industry-standard engineering software.
• Preparing structural design calculations, applying loadings and analysing stresses and load paths through different parts of a structure.
• Working with clients, colleagues and other professionals to review construction plans, drawings and specifications.
• Ensuring structural designs meet relevant legislation, industry standards, environmental requirements and health and safety regulations.
• Preparing technical information and supporting tender bids.
• Maintaining quality standards and ensuring designs meet project requirements.
• Providing progress reports to clients and senior management.
• Keeping up to date with developments in structural engineering, relevant software and industry best practice.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver projects within agreed timescales and budgets.
