Job summary

ALink Recruitment is partnering with a London-based engineering consultancy to recruit a Senior Structural Engineer. You will assess subsidence and cracking on residential and commercial properties, focusing on period Victorian and Georgian buildings across London.

The role offers flexible engagement types—permanent, contract, or part-time—with options for fully remote work between site visits or working from the London office.

Qualifications

• Experience as Senior Structural Engineer required.
• Experience assessing subsidence, cracking and structural movement.
• Knowledge of Victorian and Georgian construction.
• Experience with residential and commercial properties.
• Ability to travel between sites across London.
• Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structural inspections of residential and commercial buildings across London.
• Assess cracking, subsidence, movement and defects.
• Diagnose causes and determine need for further investigation or monitoring.
• Produce concise, technically robust inspection reports.
• Recommend remedial works or specialist investigations.
• Communicate findings clearly to clients and relevant parties.
• Manage site-visit schedule and report workload.
