Job summary

United Infrastructure Ltd. is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead OHL and substation structural design across EPC projects. The role involves technical governance, design authority, and mentoring of engineers within a hybrid working setup, primarily based near Horsham.

The ideal candidate brings a Chartered status and 10+ years of experience in slender, dynamically-loaded structures, with strong leadership and mentorship capabilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Structural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IStructE / ICE or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years' structural engineering experience.
• Experience with slender, guyed or dynamically-loaded structures.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical assessments and sign-off.

Responsibilities

• Act as senior design authority for OHL lattice towers, poles and steel poles.
• Provide design authority sign-off for substation structures.
• Lead complex structural assessments and uprating studies.
• Review and approve structural calculations and reports.
• Set and maintain design standards, procedures, and templates.
• Lead client governance discussions with SSE, SPEN, NGED and National Grid.
• Mentor and supervise junior engineers.
• Support recruitment and development of the structural team.
