Job summary

RGB Recruitment Ltd is recruiting a Senior Structural Engineer for an established engineering practice with a strong project pipeline in Exeter. This hands‑on senior appointment lets you steer projects from feasibility through to construction while mentoring colleagues and serving as a trusted contact for clients and design teams.

You will lead design, produce and review calculations and drawings, coordinate specialists, and manage budgets and programmes to ensure delivery on time and to high

Qualifications

• Chartered or Incorporated status, or progress towards registration with a recognised institution.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes, UK design standards, Building Regulations and health and safety duties.
• Experience with structural analysis tools and AutoCAD or equivalent packages.
• Ability to lead project teams, coordinate competing demands and maintain quality under deadline pressure.
• Commercial understanding across fees, scope, resources and programme management.
• Clear communication and the confidence to build credible relationships with clients and project partners.
• Organised, careful approach with high standards of technical checking and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural schemes from concept to delivery and construction support.
• Produce and review calculations, reports, specifications, drawings and tender information.
• Coordinate engineers and technicians, set priorities and maintain programme output.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, clients and other consultants to resolve design issues.
• Prepare scopes, fee proposals, resource plans and delivery programmes.
• Monitor budgets and identify variations or additional services at key stages.
• Visit sites, attend project meetings and respond to technical queries with confidence.
• Check work before issue and maintain clear, accurate project records.
• Coach less experienced team members and contribute to a positive technical culture.
