Job summary

RGB, Exeter-based consultancy, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead technically varied building schemes. You will own projects from feasibility through to construction, mentor junior staff and coordinate with clients and design teams.

The role is hybrid with flexible arrangements, offering ownership of a diverse portfolio, opportunities to influence standards, and a clear path to senior leadership within a respected practice.

Qualifications

• Chartered or Incorporated status, or progress towards professional registration with a recognised engineering institution.
• Good working knowledge of Eurocodes, UK design standards, Building Regulations and health and safety duties.
• Experience with AutoCAD or equivalent drawing software.
• Ability to lead project teams, coordinate competing demands and maintain quality under deadline pressure.

Responsibilities

• Taking responsibility for structural schemes from concept design through detailed delivery and construction support.
• Producing and reviewing calculations, reports, specifications, drawings and tender information.
• Coordinating engineers and technicians, setting priorities and keeping outputs on programme.
• Working closely with architects, contractors, clients and fellow consultants to resolve design issues efficiently.
• Preparing scopes, fee proposals, resource plans and delivery programmes.
• Monitoring budgets and identifying variations or additional services at the appropriate stage.
• Visiting sites, attending project meetings and responding to technical queries with confidence.
• Checking work before issue and maintaining clear, accurate project records.
• Coaching less experienced team members and contributing to a positive technical culture.
