Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced structural engineer seeking a new challenge! Joining the existing team at Senior level, you will play a key role in business development as the practice expands. Working primarily in residential and commercial sectors on various projects, you will leverage your experience while gaining comprehensive understanding and involvement in a developing business. You will also benefit from established infrastructure and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Review projects, prepare fee proposals and tender documents for prospective clients at domestic and commercial levels.
• Conduct inspections of existing buildings and site visits before and during construction to ensure design compliance and suitability for conversion.
• Oversee project delivery, budgeting, invoicing, and client management.
• Serve as technical lead, guiding and mentoring the existing team.
• Collaborate with the Business Development Director to foster relationships with new and existing design practices, contractors, and domestic clients to secure future projects.
• Assist with marketing, HR, and recruitment needs as required.

The Right Person

The successful Senior Structural Engineer will have experience in the following areas:

• A suitable engineering degree (MEng/BEng) in structural engineering, ideally with senior engineer or associate experience, and working towards chartership with the IStructE.
• Proven technical knowledge and experience delivering projects from concept design through to tender stage.
• Confidence in managing others, delegating, and verifying technical delivery to meet project scope requirements.
• Experience leading, managing, and being the principal contact for structural engineering design projects.
• Excellent knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques, procedures, and structural principles.
