Job summary

Aspion Search is representing a steel construction company in the UK that seeks a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join their design team. The role focuses on delivering high quality steel framework designs and mentoring junior staff within a collaborative, technically driven environment.

You will perform calculations to British and Eurocode standards, engage with architects, clients and subcontractors, and contribute to design meetings on high profile projects across major UK sectors.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be working toward Chartered status.
• UK-based structural steel design experience is essential.
• Proficient in UK/European design standards (Eurocode).
• Ability to perform both manual and software-based calculations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality structural designs for steel frameworks and complex connections.
• Conduct manual and software-based calculations to British and Eurocode standards.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients throughout project lifecycles.
• Maintain effective client relationships to support repeat business and referrals.

The Role of the Senior Structural Design Engineer:

They are looking to strengthen their design team with a Senior Structural Design Engineer to take on high profile and complex structural projects.

Here’s how:

• Deliver high quality structural designs for steel frameworks and complex connections
• Conduct manual and software-based calculations to British and Eurocode standards
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients throughout project lifecycles
• Maintain effective client relationships to support repeat business and referrals
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members
• Attend design meetings and contribute to technical discussions

Requirements of the Senior Structural Design Engineer:

• Degree qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering (ideally working toward Chartered status)
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in UK based structural steel design
• Previous experience with a UK based steelwork fabricator
• Proven experience in steelwork frame and connection design
• Proficient in Tekla Structural Designer, Masterseries, S-Frame, IDEA StatiCa
• Knowledge of British and European design standards
• Confident producing both manual and software-based calculations
• Experience in temporary works design (desirable)
