Job summary

JP Engineering in London is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to work on a varied portfolio, from concept through to completion, with direct client and design-team involvement.

You will lead your own projects, review designs, and guide junior engineers. Chartered status is preferred but not required; MIStructE/MICE is advantageous. Up to £45,000 plus benefits, permanent role with clear progression.

Qualifications

• A Civil or Structural Engineering degree is required.
• Consultancy experience is preferred.
• Strong design and analysis capabilities are essential.
• Knowledge of British Standards and Eurocodes is important.
• Excellent technical and problem-solving skills are required.
• Strong communication skills are essential.
• Ambition to take on greater responsibility is desired.
• Chartered status (MIStructE/MICE) is advantageous, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

This isn't just another role focused on producing calculations and drawings. You'll have the opportunity to become involved in projects from initial concept through to completion, work directly with clients and design teams, and take real ownership of your work.

You'll work across a varied project portfolio, getting involved in:

• Structural analysis, design and detailed engineering calculations.
• Developing schemes from initial concept through to detailed design.
• Producing technical drawings, specifications and reports.
• Working alongside architects, contractors, clients and fellow consultants.
• Attending design and client meetings.
• Reviewing designs and providing technical solutions.
• Managing your own projects and workload.
• Providing guidance and support to junior engineers.

What are we looking for?

We're interested in speaking with Structural Engineers who have:

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Previous consultancy experience.
• Strong structural design and analysis experience.
• Good knowledge of British Standards and Eurocodes.
• Excellent technical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• The ambition to develop and take on greater responsibility.

MIStructE, MICE or Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous, although strong candidates without chartership will also be considered.
