Job summary

Morgan Hunt UK Ltd in Glasgow is recruiting a Senior Structural Engineer to join a well established consultancy. You will take ownership of projects across residential, commercial and education sectors, guiding designs from concept through to construction.

Working with a multidisciplinary team, you will supervise preparation of structural calculations, liaise with architects and contractors, mentor junior engineers and contribute to bids.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Experience delivering structural design in a consultancy.
• UK building structures experience and BS/Eurocodes knowledge.
• Experience with steel, concrete, masonry and timber design.

Responsibilities

Job description

Morgan Hunt are working with a well established engineering consultancy to recruit a Senior Structural Engineer to join their Glasgow office. The consultancy has a strong reputation of delivering technically excellent engineering projects across Scotland. The work spans a wide range of sectors, including residential, commercial, healthcare, retail, industrial and, in particular, education.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to take ownership of projects and play a key role in the their delivery. You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept and feasibility through to detailed design, construction and completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the structural engineering design of projects from concept through to completion
• Take responsibility for the technical delivery of projects, ensuring designs are robust, practical and commercially viable
• Develop and review structural schemes using steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber
• Prepare and check structural calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation
• Coordinate structural designs with architects, civil engineers, MEP consultants, contractors and other members of the project team
• Attend and contribute to design team meetings, client meetings and project reviews
• Develop strong working relationships with clients and contribute to the successful delivery of projects
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to graduate and less experienced engineers
• Review designs and calculations produced by other team members
• Identify and manage technical risks throughout the design process
• Undertake site visits, inspections and provide technical support during construction
• Contribute to business development, bids and proposals where opportunities arise
