Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is recruiting a Technical Director to lead the delivery of structural engineering services for major energy infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission and distribution networks, and OHL systems.

You will manage project teams, nurture client relationships, and drive technical excellence while embedding innovation and best practices across the portfolio. The role offers hybrid working within a global consultancy.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a relevant professional body.
• Significant experience in structural engineering design and project leadership.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the structural design and delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects.
• Provide strategic input into project planning, resourcing, and risk management.
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission and distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Contribute to business development, including bids, proposals, and client presentations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and sustainable design solutions.
• Support the development of best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
