Job summary

Wakefield-based structural steel contractor is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to develop safe, practical, and commercially viable structural solutions from concept through to fabrication and construction. You will analyze loadings, perform calculations, and collaborate with clients and project teams to deliver buildable designs.

The role focuses on structural steel design, detailing, and ensuring projects meet structural integrity and cost targets.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in a structural design engineering role.
• Strong knowledge of structural mechanics and engineering principles.
• Proven structural design calculation experience.
• Experience designing structural steelwork.
• Ability to assess loadings, stresses and load paths.
• Experience using structural engineering software.

Responsibilities

• Design structural steel solutions from initial requirements through to detailed engineering.
• Analyse structures, applying loadings and assessing stresses and load paths.
• Develop calculations and design information using industry-standard engineering software.
• Collaborate with clients, project teams and other professionals to turn requirements into workable designs.
• Deliver solutions that consider structural integrity, buildability, compliance and cost.
• Support tenders and projects with technical input, calculations and progress reporting.
