General Summary:

This position reports to the Deputy Chief Designer & Structure or their designee; it is located in Maranello, Italy. The role involves structural design and analysis of F1 chassis-related components.

Key Responsibilities:

• Promote teamwork and effective communication to develop working relationships across departments.
• Conduct structural analysis and optimization of car components to ensure solutions are lightweight, reliable, and safe, while achieving required stiffness targets.
• Utilize methods such as hand calculations, Finite Element Analysis (both linear and non-linear), and software tools.
• Perform structural optimization (topological, shape, composite laminate, etc.), automation, analysis, and correlation of experimental data through scripting and programming.
• Focus primarily on the analysis of composite components (chassis, gearbox, wings, bodywork, suspensions, etc.).
• Follow all safety regulations at all venues.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Chief Designer & Structure or their designee.

Education and Work Experience:

University degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or equivalent Engineering, preferably a master’s degree in a relevant field. Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a professional motorsports environment.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent understanding of English.
• Strong technical knowledge of FE methods and their limitations.
• Ability to work to high standards under stressful and time-sensitive conditions.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Must be able to work efficiently in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment with a methodical approach. Some travel may be required. The role involves office work, supervising component testing, and physical tasks such as lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, and manual dexterity. The environment includes machinery, race cars, rigs, debris, and hazardous fluids. Compliance with health and safety policies is mandatory.
