Job summary

MDA Space seeks a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer for our UK offices in Stevenage, Harwell, or Manchester. You will lead static, dynamic, and thermoelastic analyses, guide design decisions, and ensure rigorous documentation and peer reviews across multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires a solid background in structural dynamics, FEA tooling, and hands-on testing, with a track record of delivering robust, validated analysis for space systems. Hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is required.
• At least 5 years of direct experience in structural dynamics (modal, sine, random) and static/thermoelastic analyses.
• Proficiency with FEA packages such as NASTRAN and Femap, preferably within NX.
• Experience in static, frequency response, random vibration, and shock analyses.
• Hands-on experience with structural testing including vibration and modal tests.

Responsibilities

• Conduct static, dynamic, and thermoelastic analyses using standard structural analysis techniques and tools such as NX/Nastran.
• Perform component sizing, propose design modifications, and provide guidance to ensure optimal designs.
• Develop test predictions to support static and dynamic testing efforts.
• Communicate design recommendations effectively to stakeholders across multidisciplinary teams.
• Prepare, review, and present detailed analysis findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Ensure all analysis work is thoroughly documented, with files and conclusions organized, trackable, traceable, and reproducible.
• Conduct peer reviews of analysis work to maintain quality and accuracy.
• As Mechanical Project Team Lead, deliver all mechanical work packages and coordinate Thermal, Structural, and Design engineers.
